2024 Dyslexia Friendly Week
At Norbury Manor, we believe in the power of empathy and scholarship. Our school values guide us in creating an inclusive environment where every child is celebrated for their unique strengths and talents. During Dyslexia Awareness Week, we have embraced the opportunity to foster a deeper understanding of dyslexia and celebrate the diverse learning styles within our community.
The week began with a whole-school assembly, where our pupils learned about dyslexia and watched a thought-provoking video about the experiences of a child with dyslexia. This set the stage for two exciting challenges that encouraged our students to explore the concept of diversity and individuality.
One activity invited our pupils to design their own unique book covers, emphasising the idea that every story is different because each person is unique. This hands-on task allowed our learners to express their creativity and develop a deeper appreciation for the diverse perspectives within our community.
The second challenge encouraged all our students to share their own stories, regardless of their learning style or ability. This activity celebrated the power of communication and the importance of providing opportunities for every child to have a voice.
We are proud to display some of the work created by our pupils during these activities. From vibrant book covers to imaginative stories, these examples showcase the talent and creativity of our diverse learners.
Dyslexia Awareness Week has been a valuable opportunity to foster open dialogue about differences and celebrate the strengths of all our students. At Norbury Manor, we are committed to maintaining this conversation and ensuring that our school remains a place of inclusivity, empowerment, and academic excellence for all.
