2024 NMP Reception Pupils Visit Godstone Farm
At Norbury Manor Primary School, we believe in providing our pupils with engaging, hands-on learning experiences that align with our curriculum and school values. On 22nd June 2024, our Reception class had the opportunity to visit Godstone Farm in Surrey as part of their topic on Animals and Creatures.
Godstone Farm is a renowned educational facility that offers unique animal experiences, allowing children to get up-close and personal with a variety of creatures. Our pupils were thrilled to have the chance to learn from the farm's fully trained team of animal handlers, who provided behind-the-scenes access and interactive demonstrations.
During their visit, our pupils were able to:
- Observe and interact with different farm animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens
- Participate in interactive learning activities to deepen their understanding of animal habitats, behaviours, and care
- Explore the farm's expansive grounds and discover the natural wonders of the countryside
This field trip perfectly aligned with our school's vision and values. By immersing our pupils in hands-on, experiential learning, we aim to foster their enthusiasm for discovery, nurture their sense of wonder, and empower them to become enthusiastic, independent learners.
Our school's core values of Resilience, Empathy, and Scholarship were evident throughout the visit. The pupils demonstrated resilience in adapting to new environments, empathy in their interactions with the animals, and a genuine scholarly curiosity to learn more about the natural world.
This enriching experience not only complemented our curriculum but also provided our pupils with the opportunity to develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. By connecting our learning to the real world, we strive to equip our children with the knowledge and capabilities they need to become "learners today and leaders tomorrow.
