Year 6 Growing Against Violence Workshop
Our Year 6 pupils recently participated in a Growing Against Violence (GAV) Workshop on 16th December 2024.
Resilience, Empathy, Scholarship, Peace, Excellence, Community, and Thankfulness - these are the core values that guide our school's approach to educating and nurturing our young learners. The GAV Workshop aligned perfectly with these values, empowering our pupils to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the challenges they may face, both online and in the real world.
During the workshop, our Year 6 pupils explored topics such as Social Media and Friendship, learning to distinguish between real and criminal friendships. They engaged in critical thinking exercises, considering the impact of their online decision-making and how to use positive peer pressure to reject gang culture. Additionally, the workshop provided essential personal safety advice to help our pupils stay safe and make informed choices.
The Growing Against Violence programme is an evidence-based initiative that aims to prevent youth violence and protect young people from exploitation by gangs and grooming. By partnering with this organisation, Norbury Manor Primary School demonstrates its commitment to empowering our pupils to be learners today and leaders tomorrow, as stated in our school motto.
We are proud of our Year 6 pupils for their active participation and engagement in this important workshop. Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn will undoubtedly serve them well as they continue their educational journey and become responsible, caring members of our community.
